Ilinden

A unique holiday for Ravnogor. On July 20 or the last Saturday before that date all villagers and guests gather for the occasion at St. Iliya mountain, where a “kurban” is prepared in honor of the saint after whom the peak and the little monastery are named. The monastery exists for over 400 years but was rebuilt in 1908. It is possible to get there on foot or by a car. The distance is only 1,5 kilometers. Usually many representatives of the church visit the celebration. A temporally restaurant is usually built on there. All of the people gather on the glade around the monastery and enjoy the music and traditions.
